Wilton Soccer Association Update

#onetownoneteam

Dear WSA family,

When we first shared our #onetownoneteam hashtag last fall, we simply wanted to rally around a feeling we knew was inside of all of our young players and their teammates, friends and families.

#onetownoneteam is that feeling of belonging and pride in our hometown team.  It speaks to our sense of responsibility to do our very best for each other, on and off the field, as players, volunteers, coaches and as people.  This feeling is part of our soccer program, but is also part of the fabric of our Wilton community we all love so very much.

In times of adversity and uncertainty, bonds among us get stronger as we adapt, endure and overcome together.  The feeling of doing our part for our team (our families) and knowing that our teammates (our neighbors) are also doing the same is real and important. This is happening.  We can feel it even if we can not physically see it at the moment.

Our children will play soccer (and every other sport and activity) again here in town as soon as it is safe.  When we do, we will appreciate the fun, togetherness and friendships those activities provide just a little bit more.  We have a feeling future participation in our local programs may grow as we all seek more convenient, more wholesome, more connected and more affordable activities centered right here in town among close friends.  In the meantime, keep your and your children’s spirits up, stay safe, stay active and healthy.

With that said, at this time, all Wilton Soccer Association Spring 2020 programs are officially delayed from their planned start dates until further notice.

While we would like nothing more than to be more specific on plans for this spring season, that is just not possible at this time.  We promise to keep you posted.  Any decision to start, delay further, or potentially cancel entirely will be based on the advice and guidance of our town leaders and the governing bodies for youth soccer.  You may direct questions to any of your WSA contacts HERE .

Please also remember that the town has closed all fields and facilities until further notice.

Just like in the game of soccer, we have to maintain our spacing (social distance) — avoid group play sessions and organized group training or similar as it is in the best interests of all.  Backyard games, runs, hikes or bike rides with your immediate family only are the way to go.

We can do this. #onetownoneteam.
